The Save Small Business Fund is a way for larger businesses and philanthropies to help the small business community suffering from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. We are continuing to award grants to our existing list of applicants as new funds become available, but due to overwhelming demand, the Chamber Foundation is no longer accepting new applications from the general public. Since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, business has been at the forefront of the response to the unprecedented health and economic crisis. The Save Small Business Fund is the result of corporations coming together to help the small employers who have been hit hardest survive the economic impact.
UPDATE: We are continuing to award grants to our existing list of applicants as new funds become available, but due to overwhelming demand, this program is no longer accepting new applications.
To date, Save Small Business Fund grants have been awarded to small employers in 50 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico.
Eligible awardees must run a small business or chamber of commerce with between 3-20 employees (including yourself and not including independent contractors). The business must be located in an economically vulnerable community. This is defined as the bottom 80% of the most economically distressed zip codes in the United States, as ranked by the Distressed Communities Index. Before starting the application, you will be asked for the zip code where you are registered by the IRS as doing business, which will confirm your eligibility.
The Distressed Communities Index is a measure of the economic well-being of U.S. communities, developed by the Economic Innovation Group. Just as some businesses face higher risks than others, some communities are more vulnerable. This Fund is dedicated to helping employers in the places that need them most.
Each grant is for $5,000 and must be applied toward business expenses. We follow up with all grantees shortly after the award to learn how it was spent and the impact that it made.
While we are no longer accepting new applications, existing applicants that meet the above requirements may be awarded grants on a rolling basis as funds become available.
